Merry Christmas! Because it’s a holiday and you want to spend your time with your family (not your email) here is a quick email with 10 quick things to change about your business
Don’t accept cash, check, or IOUs. Have credit card on file for every customer and charge card after service
Place hold on customers’ credit card 24 hours before service to ensure funds (Booking Koala can do this)
Before & after photos are the best marketing for a cleaning business. Use them!
Don’t work with cleaners who refuse to purchase insurance or are unable to pass a background check
Ask for a review and/or a referral after each 5-star service
Charge an onboarding fee for each new Airbnb (reply and let me know if you want a deep dive here)
Taking laundry offsite will save many headaches for your cleaners (and can improve your margin if done right)
Even if you run an Airbnb cleaning business, you should still set hours of operation (don’t answer your phone past 6pm unless you’re also the property manager)
Do job costing for each property (calculate total revenue and total expenses for each property). If you’re making less than 50% gross profit on each property, either cut expenses or raise prices
Know your numbers! If you don’t know what you did in sales last week, work on getting your numbers down. If you don’t know, you can’t grow
