If your business is chaotic, it’s your fault. A lot of business owners get into this game by cleaning and then they eventually get big enough to outsource the jobs. After a while they get cleaners, assistants, maybe even an operations manager, but they have never felt more busy and out of control.
These business owners that feel out of control always have the same thing in common. They never took the time to build processes and document standard operating procedures (SOP’s.)
If you (or someone on your team) does the same task more than three times, it needs to have a standard operating procedure (SOP). One of my clients cleans over 100 Airbnb‘s and is working 7 days a week to manage the chaos. I helped her hire 2 more virtual assistants and develop actual standard operating procedures for how to run her business.
Last week, she took her first vacation in over a year and was able to set aside her phone while lounging next to the pool. There was still chaos in the business, but this time it was managed chaos (and not by her). All because of the team and the processes that she had developed.
If you are running this business and are stressed out of your mind, the unfortunate truth is that you are the problem…. BUT you are also the solution. Take some time today to write down a few of the tasks that you do on a regular basis and start to develop an SOP around them. If you don’t already have a virtual assistant, I would highly recommend hiring one as soon as possible.
If you don’t know where to start, reply to this email and I can point you in the right direction
Until next time!
