Something that you absolutely need to be doing every day but is, oh so boring, documenting SOPs. Man, I really dislike it. Feels so monotonous and simple. Doesn’t actually feel like you’re being productive. But you are, in a weird roundabout way.

Creating SOPs for your business and producing protocols is an investment in your business. Every time you write down an SOP (standard operating procedure) you’re freeing up time for yourself in the future.

Example, if you have an SOP that says: “if a guest wants to drop off luggage early, you can direct them to leave it in the garage” that’s going to save you time the next time your cleaners run into this situation. They can hop over to your Handbook, or better yet, ask your AI agent for the SOP.

They will be able to solve their own problems and leave you out of it. This allows you, as the owner, to continue working on the highest leverage tasks like selling, hiring, and documenting more SOPs.

So if you don’t have a Notion page, a Word doc, or just a simple folder with answers to “what do I do in XYZ situation” here’s your sign to start documenting those today. Your future self will thank you for it.

Here’s another tip: have them all in the same spot. Don’t put SOPs across Breezeway, text, slack, notion, etc. Have one dedicated document for all SOPs (department specific). That way, you’ll never have to go looking when you think “I could have sworn we talked about this before…”

Until next time!
