One of your most powerful tools to grow your business is knowing how to price each job accurately. Too many cleaners allow the host or their competitors to dictate the cleaning fee and, as a result, end up taking on unprofitable jobs just to stay busy.
This is a losing formula. A winning formula is this:
Determine what your profit targets are.
Example: we do not take on a job unless we will make at least 55% profit on the job. As an example, if the job pays $100, I will pay my team $45 and the business takes home $55
Identify when and in what circumstances you are willing to compromise on your profit target
Example: we just recently launched a promotion for the residential side of our business. The offer is this: commit to at least 3 recurring cleans and we’ll give you 25% off on the initial deep clean. This violates the rule above but it’s intentional. This can be replicated on the Airbnb side as well
Don’t make exceptions to these 2 rules
Once you’ve established these rules for your business, don’t look back. If you only partially commit to these rules, your profits will never grow. You’ll be stuck in a loop where you’re constantly frustrated by low paying jobs, working 50-60 hours per week but not making any money
