When I started this cleaning business, I was working a full-time job. There was no way I could answer the phones, talk to customers, interview and hire cleaners or grow my business as fast as I wanted to grow it.
One of the first things I did was hire a remote manager. He was based in the Philippines and took over nearly every aspect of my business so I could continue my 9-5. He promoted the business, sold cleaning services, even hired some of our best cleaners.
Honestly, he was a life saver. Without him, I don’t think my business would still be around because I simply did not have the time to run it.
Most folks, when they look at a cleaning business, cannot even imagine how intense and complex it is. “All you do is clean houses. How hard could it be?” Those folks have no idea what they are talking about. I believe you truly don’t understand how difficult a cleaning business is until you run one.
Fast forward to today, I have hired 4 people from the Philippines to manage my business (in addition to 1 FT in-person manager).
Here are their roles:
Dianne: true admin position (billing, payroll, sales tax, etc.). Also oversees the other three
Ed: Full-time sales focus. Inbound and outbound to old clients
Francis: Short-Term Rental cleaning ops manager. In charge of everything that happens for our STR cleaning business
Frances: Residential cleaning ops manager. In charge of everything that happens for our residential cleaning business
(yes, pure coincidence that they basically have the same name. it was very confusing for a while.)
